What is the Cork County Childcare Committee?
The Cork County Childcare Committee was established in 2000 as part of the National Childcare Policy to:
'reinforce, enhance and assist in the development of a co-ordinated approach to quality childcare at local level.'

The Role of the Cork County Childcare Committee
- To implement the strategies outlined in the Cork County Childcare Committee Strategic Plans 2001 - 2006 and 2007 - 2010
- To provide support, advice and information to existing and potential childcare service providers including childminder s related to National Childcare Investment Programme.
- To identify gaps in childcare provision and assist in the development of a new service
- To develop an information resource centre
- To establish and support the Voluntary Notification system for childminders
- To facilitate the development of local networks of childminders
- To support training courses for childcare service providers, parents and childminders
- To identify and develop linkages with existing agencies, groups and organisations within the childcare sector
- To address issues of social inclusion by assisting with development of appropriate, innovative initiatives
- To promote quality childcare throughout the sector
Mission Statement
Cork County Childcare Committee will develop and implement a coordinated childcare strategy for Cork County. It will support the development and provision of a range of integrated, high quality, accessible and affordable childcare and educational initiative for children from birth to twelve years of age. This will be achieved through partnership with all existing service providers and by the provision of a coordination mechanism at county level.
